GRE Quant Section – An Overview

Before you go forward and attempt these quizzes, let us first understand the bigger picture. In GRE, you may encounter two or three quantitative sections. However, only two quantitative sections are considered for your quantitative score (130-170). Each quantitative section has 20 questions and gives you 35 minutes time to attempt those questions. Some of the features of a quantitative section are:

  • You can go back and forward between the questions
  • The questions will be of varying difficulty, however, inside a quantitative section all questions carry equal marks
  • There is no negative marking for a wrong answer. Also, there is no half marking
  • Out of the 20 questions in the section, 8 are quantitative comparisons and other 12 are problem solving model
  • In quantitative comparisons, two quantities A and B are given which need to be compared
  • In problem solving model, there are three types of questions – one correct, one or more correct and numerical entry
  • All problems are based on four major concepts – Arithmetic, Geometry, Algebra and Data Analysis

Our Quant Strategy

  • As there is no negative marking, attempt all questions
  • If you can’t get the approach to a problem in one minute, select a best guess answer, mark the problem and move forward
  • You should be able to answer any problem in one and a half minute. On no problem should you spend more than two minutes
  • After running through all the 20 problems in this manner, now review the problems you have marked earlier

Course Overview

This course will provide you with 50 topic quizzes to build your concepts and improve your accuracy as well as 7 quantitative sectional mocks to help you with time management . Each topic quiz will give 15 minutes to solve 10 problems (remember, our strategy is 1.5 minutes per problem), while each quantitative sectional mock gives 35 minutes to solve 20 problems. The first four lessons – Arithmetic, Geometry, Algebra and Data Analysis – take care of topic quizzes, whereas the last lesson focuses on sectional practice.

All the best then! Go ahead and get a cent percentile in GRE Quant.
